January 15 - Monthly Payroll Deposit for Employers -

Employers adhering to the monthly deposit rules are required to remit their December 2025 Social Security, Medicare, and withheld income taxes by January 15. Additionally, nonpayroll withholding deposits for December 2025 are due if the monthly deposit rule is applicable. Remember, employment tax deposits must be submitted electronically unless your deposit liability is below $2,500 for the return period, allowing quarterly or annual submission attached to the return.

January 15 - Farmers and Fishermen -

It’s time to pay your estimated tax for 2025 using Form 1040-ES. You can file your 2025 income tax return (Form 1040 or Form 1040-SR) by April 15. However, if estimated tax isn’t paid by January 15, you must file your 2025 return and clear any taxes by March 2, 2026, to dodge the estimated tax penalty.

Should a due date land on a Saturday, Sunday, or a public holiday, it extends naturally to the next business day not recognized as a holiday.
