December 1 - Initiate Year-End Tax Strategy

This marks the prime period for making pivotal decisions that influence your 2025 tax liabilities. If you've had significant income fluctuations, undergone marital status changes, or sold property this year, it's wise to schedule a tax strategy session. At MJ Ahmed CPA PLLC, we leverage over 25 years of expertise to guide clients, ensuring tailored strategies aligned with individual financial landscapes across the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond.

December 10 - Submit Employee Tips

Employees earning over $20 in tips during November must report these to their employer using IRS Form 4070 by this date. Employers then withhold FICA and income tax from wages. In cases where wages fall short to cover withholdings, these will be noted in box 8 of your W-2, requiring settlement upon filing your annual return.

December 31 - Complete Mandatory IRA Disbursements

For individuals born prior to January 1, 1952, this date is the deadline to withdraw from a Traditional IRA to avoid penalties. If you turned 73 in 2025, your required minimum distribution for 2025 can be deferred until April 1, 2026. Plan withdrawals early to avoid potential banking closures on the day.

December 31 - Settle Deductible Expenses for the Year

Ensure all deductible expenses for 2025 are paid by this deadline, noting exceptions for IRA, SEP, or Keogh contributions, which may be settled in early 2026.

December 31 - End-of-Year Caution!

Procrastination could hinder the completion of intended financial actions as some institutions shut down operations early. Starting ahead of schedule can circumvent unnecessary setbacks.

Weekends & Holidays: Due Date Adjustments

Due dates falling on weekends or legal holidays automatically move to the next business day, simplifying planning around public holidays.
